Honey Restaurant: A Review

In my previous post I’d mentioned how myself and some other lovely bloggers had been given an amazing opportunity to attend a Next Lingerie event held at Manchester Arndale. After the event(see my previous post for more info) we we’re told we’d be whisked off to the a-m-aaazzzzing Hotel Gotham for a slap up three course meal.To say I was excited is beyond an understatement.

Rollin’ on up to Hotel Gotham we all eagerly took photo’s and strode on in. Hittin’ the lift button to ‘up’ we arrived at our ridiculously beautiful room  inside the Honey restaurant for the three course meal. As we loaded down our bags, and set up camp we chatted away amongst our tables awaiting the food. For the first course, I’d decided on a ‘chicken and ham pie’. Well this wasn’t what I had truly expected, but honestly what did I know on food? Arriving to the table looking posher than ever, the pie signified everything hotel Gotham would have to offer. With a cold meat centre, pastry on top and a drizzling around it’s base, it was a treat. Okay, so I haven’t made it sound so sweet, but honestly it was SO good.

For my main I opted for the fish and chips. Well people, let me tell you this, these fish and chips aren’t the ‘norm’, as not only were they amazingly good, but most probably the poshest I’ve ever had. Some would argue this isn’t hard as I am from Middleton… By the way don’t think this is a bad thing as by God it’s not. As the plate arrived I thought to myself  ‘that aint gonna fill me'(Hello fatty). Erm, yeah Emma you were totally wrong; three chips down and a fish goujon later and I was seriously stuffed. Having ate some delicious chunky chips with a ridiculously soft cod fish, I was in food heaven. Be sure to try this!

The finale! For my closing plate I’d opted for the tart. Knowing that I love anything filled with jam (or anything sweet for that matter) I couldn’t go for anything else. When it arrived I wasn’t let down-Larger in size than expected and oh so, so good.

Bakewell Tart

Be sure to try this hotel out, as not only do they do amazing food but accommodation and drinking areas too! In honesty I thought the food would be fancy and small and I’d go home eatin’ my arm, but I was pleasantly surprised that all the food was seriously on point. For both size and taste as for once I wasn’t hungry. And that people is an achievement.

Oh My Goodness – that Pie! You really are living the dream Em! I prefer gastro pubs myself for a meal out – you know the kind of gig you wouldn’t feel out of place in jeans and flats. However, I do enjoy the odd occasion of getting all poshed up and going all-out swanky. My best experience was at Le Mont (inside Urbis) which closed, and the runner up was The Establishment (now Rosso) also closed! Hmmmm, I’m starting to wonder if it might me!
