Probably a shameful thing to admit, but I’d never actually been to the races, like ever. So, when the lovely Carrie asked me to attend for Doncaster ladies day, I was alllll over it like a bad, bad rash haha. Having been told a month previous it gave us time to get excited, choose an outfit and save that money for some good ol’ bettin’. Roll around Thursday 10th of Sept, myself and Hol (from Rock on Holly), jumped into the car and drove on over. With an hour and a half journey ahead of us, we nattered and gained more and more excitement as we slowly got closer to the race track. Having not been before, I had this pre-planted image of the women( God damn you DailyMail). So, I’d basically pictured from the get-go loooots of women to be thrown around on the floor, giant fascinator on the head and a bottle of Moet in hand. Little did I know, Doncaster must of been quite classy as I only saw one. And you know what? I’m not even goin’ to lie I was devestated. Guaranteed there was the fair share of ill dressed women, with satin galore and their ass cheeks hangin’ out, but there was also those beautifully dressed women who showed what ladies day can truly be about. With some even winning prizes!(lucky sods).

Having arrived at Doncaster Racecourse we grabbed our tickets and headed on up to one of the suites. Not only was I attending the races for the first time, but apprently doing it in serious style?  After meeting familiar faces, the lovely PR girls and some new blogger ladies we tucked on in to a three course meal with prosecco on tap. Don’t worry I know what you’re thinkin’ and it was diet Coke central for me(cue tears).

As a true desert lover, I thought it only right for me to show you this beauty.

After munchin’ on down we decided to place a few bets(btw I’m NO good at this) and watched all the races one by one. In all honesty although I had no betting skills and pretty much sucked at it, I can truly understand the buzz of the race course. I;m not condoning irresponsible gambling, but the electric atmosphere, merry people and beautiful dresses, well I was sold. So much that this weekend I was at Chester’s racecourse myself! A huuuuuge thank you goes out to Ladbrokes as without them, I’d never of experienced this amazing event. Bravo Ladbrokes!

Wow, it's years since I went to the races (showing my age!). It looks like you had a great time and you all look gorgeous all dressed up. Love the look of the Pimms bus;) Whilst Dog Racing isn't quite so sophisticated, its still a good night … though haven't been there for ages either! xxx

You look seriously stunning Emma! I've never been either and you've really made me want to now! Especially if I can do it in style with bubbly and cake. I doubt I would be good at betting either but I can imagine that the atmosphere is electric!
