THIR FUCKING TY- How did I get here so quickly? | Lifestyle

Guys, I’M NEARLY THIRTY. THIR FUCKING TY!!!!
In less than one months time i’ll be hittin’ that massive(okay, to some), milestone and its fair to say I really don’t understand how it’s come round so quickly?!
Yeah, yeah, Im well aware of how time goes by, we all age etc etc but i legit don’t understand how i went from the age of 26 to 30 in such a blink of an eye. For approximately four years now i’ve been stuck at 26 and it wasn’t till i hit 28 that i actually realised I seriously wasn’t 26 anymore.
Thinking I sound pathetic? Yeah, I know, it’s just when people say your twenties ‘flash by’- they’re seriously fucking right.

Although I seemed to have whinged for around 3 minutes of your life whilst readin’ this, if i think back, I actually proper love what I’ve achieved in these last 10 years. And being one for throwin’ it back I thought i’d list through a few highlights/knowledge learnt because if you’re not goin’ to “blow your own trumpet”, then who the F will….Something else i’ve also learnt over this past decade, too.

1. First and foremost…Understanding your happiness is a priority
-This means saying a bit fat N.O to whatever you seriously don’t want to do. Guaranteed in my early twenties I didn’t do much of this because you know, peer pressure and stuff, but as I got older I learned that although you have to compromise, you can still do whatever you seriously fucking want. And AMEN to that.

2. Work will always be there.
-Okay, so this one I think i’ve only just started to come to terms with, and probably go in and out, but its true. Graft and graft, but work will always be there. Whether it be answering those emails in the morning instead of night, or realising that report doesn’t have to be completed at 11:45pm at night, work-life balance is key, and by God will it keep you healthier. (p.s this doesn’t mean i’m still not pretty much hooked on work, but im definetely trying my best)

3.You can truly do whatever you set your mind to.
– Somethin’ i’m pretty proud of is the fact that around 4 years ago I still toyed with what the hell I wanted to do in life, how was I going to get into Fashion Marketing, and just wtf was a blog HA. If it hadn’t been for certain people pushing me forward (aka Duff and my family), i’d still be a bit timid and not actually goin’ for the career i’d admired most. Flash forward nearly 4 years, two fashion brands, multiple promotions and i’m at a stage of my career I love.

4. Be your own biggest cheerleader.
– This ones been a lil’ harder for me, and one i’ve toyed with over the years (and still do to this day). Like, there’s definitely days where i’m less confident than others, which i’m sure others are too. But, you definitely have to cheer your own successes alongside cheering your friends, too. Because if you ain’t goin’ to cheer for yourself, then really whats the friggin’ point.

5. Work mega hard but enjoy mega hard too.
– These past few years i’ve worked so hard (especially this last year), but in doing this i’ve managed to get to that place where I love. Maybe it’s come with 1,000 late nights, a new-found love(aka obsession) of coffee, a shit ton of international flights and major pangs of anxiety, but theres been mega highs too. Life’s too short to rely solely on career success, albeit it important in our lives, but we also need that fun element too. So, in the words of proper F’cking cheeseball people, YOLO here’s to being thirty. Show me ALL the holidays, trips, drink, food and more!
